Want to vote in an SHRSD Referendum? Voting from England is just fine.

One of the voters in the 2021 referendum results was questioned about his residency. In particular, he was asked about his tax forms. A sample dummy form is shown here as an example.

If this “P60 End of Year Certificate” is confusing to you, it’s OK. Most district residents will have never heard of this form. A P60 is the UK equivalent of a W2 form.

All of this voter’s income for the past 7 years has come in as a P60 form.

Wait. What? All his income is reported on a British tax form? What’s going on?

As it turns out, this particular voter moved to England 7 years ago. He’s been working there all this time, has been living there, he even has a committed romantic partner who is a UK resident.

Prior to moving to England, he was living in Edison, NJ for a few years. As it turns out, he hasn’t lived in the district for over a decade.

The dude is now so English he even has a British accent (seriously).

Yet the judge allowed his vote.
